Lens Guide
One of the difficulties when choosing the right CCTV camera is choosing the camera with the correct camera lens. When choosing the right lens for your field of view, you need to take into consideration the fact that different lenses give different fields of view, and different levels of zoom. Some of the higher-end lenses also offer features such as manual zoom/focus adjustment and some with motorised zoom/focus adjustment. Choosing the wrong lens can lead to a camera monitoring too small of an area, or not having enough zoom to capture events with clarity.
The following images demonstrate the differences in lens sizes. A High Definition Weatherproof Day/Night camera has been mounted 30 metres from the rear of the car in the image, and the lens angle adjusted to 2.8, 3.6, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 22mm lenses. A PTZ camera looking toward the traffic lights at a distance of 150m away has also been set up and the lens adjusted to a 10x, 16x, and 20x zoom.
